It’s no secret that here at Sigler, we love designing and producing unique apparel. As the threat of the COVID-19 health crisis darkened, we wanted to bring a little light and encouragement back into the lives of our community. We put our creative heads together and got to work doing what we do best – we decided to design a t-shirt and donate $5 from each shirt sale to one of our favorite organizations, the Food Bank of Iowa.
We wanted our design to be more than just clever words on a shirt, we wanted it to promote positivity and empower people to help others. A favorite phrase of Sigler’s president, Michelle Vogel, is “Believe there is good in the world/be the good”. This felt like the perfect message to share during this time of uncertainty. With our phrase in hand, we designed two different t-shirts available in men’s, women’s and youth sizing.
When Sigler’s employee-funded GIVE Committee heard about the project, they generously agreed to match each $5 donation, up to $250. Plus, Sigler offered FREE shipping on every order anywhere in the United States to encourage responsible social distancing practices. With all the details in place, we launched our “Be The Good” online Pop-Up Shop using social media to promote the effort.
We were absolutely thrilled at the overwhelming support shown by members of our community who wanted to give back and share the “Be The Good” message. While we loved seeing all the positive feedback in the form of comment threads, likes and shares – the final sales numbers spoke for themselves.
In just 10 days, we were able to raise $1,365 – which translates to up to 5,460 meals for food-insecure Iowans!
For that we are very thankful.
