Let’s Get Literal (LGL) is a fun, interactive series of designs based on “literal” interpretations. LGL combines several things we love – movies, design and creating campaigns that delight and engage people. This year’s calendar theme is MOVIE TITLES and it’s up to the end-user to guess and then check their answers at LetsGetLiteral.com.
May’s design was inspired by gold lines and a goldmine of literal film titles from 007.

DESIGNER’S COMMENTARY WITH Kathy
If you need a literal movie title, look no further than James Bond! I mean, how much more literal can you get than Golden Eye? I considered just using the letter "i" in cool typography with gold foil, but decided a human eye might be more interesting to stare at for a month. I chose a linocut style so I could play with a combination of metallic gold ink for the thinner lines and the dates of the calendar, with the gold foil on the eye and lashes.
For the paper, I chose Neenah PLIKE® in Royal Blue. It's such a beautiful, richly colored paper with a matte plastic-like surface. I knew the golds would look fantastic on it.
PLIKE® Papers are available in 9 rich colors in 2 weights (95 lb text and 122 lb cover). All colors are FSC® Certified. For more information and a peek at color options, visit our friends at Neenah.
